We had a 'Christmas party/Going away party' tonight at Bennigans. I generally don't go to these affairs for various reasons... incuding:
1. I hate my boss with the heat of a million fires.
2. Korean food blows (they went to American food this time)
3. Everyone drinks like crazy and then acts like fools.
This time was thankfully very different and extremely amusing.
I got there at 6:50 or so, about an hour before most people would get there. Mike, Erik and Michelle were already in attendance and had been ordering things already. They had been there since about 5:30. So I sat down with them and we chatted and ate and drank smoothies (beer for the boys). It was a good time. Then the rest of the staff got there. All this time, Erik and Mike had been ordering beers and being hilarious. Mike has been in Korea for about 5 years and is married to a Korean woman... so he speaks a lot more korean than the rest of us. So instead of struggling to order drinks in English, he just did it in Korean, things seemed to be working well.
When the rest of the staff got there, Christine came as well. Christine is Korean but speaks perfect english. (she's been teaching me korean...yay!) She sat next to Mike and then when he ordered another bottle of beer and then a glass of beer for Erik, Christine started laughing.
Turns out Mike had been ordering 'sheets of beer' instead of glasses of beer and 'poop' instead of bottles of beer. hahaha.
I'm never trusting his Korean ever again.
